What massage session length is best?

Not sure whether to schedule a 15, 30, 60, or 90 minute service?

THE 15 MINUTE SESSION:  As a general rule, express massage services (15 minutes) are good for those needing a fast energy boost (afternoon lull, morning fog, etc), or quick relief from building tension (eye strain, headache, jaw or neck tension, or aching calves).  To relieve tension that is already settled, we advise scheduling a 30, 60, or 90 minute service, depending upon the degree of tension or pain.

THE 30 MINUTE SESSION:  A thirty minute massage session is usually adequate for partial body treatment (meaning upper body, or low back and legs, for example).   This session is great for relieving general tension, addressing moderate muscle aches and pain in one or two areas, and for maintenance on known problem areas between hour or ninety minute sessions.  A half hour session is not enough time to address several areas of concern, or to complete a full body session.

THE 60 MINUTE SESSION:  The sixty minute massage session is by far the most popular session length available.  Typically this session length allows enough time for detailed work on a couple areas of specific tension/discomfort and maintenance work on the remainder of the body, OR an hour session also can provide enough time for more focused work on only a few areas of pain or tension if a person is looking solely for deep therapeutic or trigger point style work.  For those not experiencing discomfort or pain, a nice relaxing Swedish massage is an option for this session length too.

THE 90 MINUTE SESSION:  A ninety minute massage session is wonderful for massage devotees who need a more extensive, focused therapeutic effect and deeper work to relieve moderate to severe muscle tension/discomfort or more complex pain complaints (marathoners, other athletes, hard laborers, high-stress office workers, etc).  For those not acclimated to receiving massage on a regular basis, who do not prefer deep or focused trigger point work, or who simply do not have much to address in the way of tension, discomfort or pain, this session length may be too long.

The "Warrior's" Refuge (Deep Tissue) Massage   ♥   $25 (15 min)   ♥   $45 (30 min)   ♥   $80 (60 min)   ♥   $110 (90min)
Our most popular service, this massage is tailored to provide relief for the daily "warrior" inside of you.  Therapists utilize many modalities including Deep Tissue and Neuromuscular Therapy, which include techniques such as myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and stretching. Perfect for individuals who prefer that "hurts good" therapeutic feel of deep tissue massage and bodywork.

Short on time and need serious relief?  Come enjoy one of the following "express" services:

  • 15-Minute Head, Neck & Face Massage   You know that "brain fog" feeling, eye fatigue, neck tension, TMJ strain, headache, et cetera? This brief session will help increase blood flow to the head, neck and shoulders, relieve stagnation in the tissues, loosen myofascial adhesions in key areas, and relieve overall tension and stiffness. If you suffer from headaches, a focused scalp and neck massage can work wonders for relieving or eliminating the discomfort you're feeling. If you suffer with eye strain or TMJ discomfort, a brief session of focused work can help reduce or eliminate discomfort associated with tight muscles that contribute to pain sensations in these areas.  Ask to try Indian "hair pulling" and experience the release of tension from under the scalp like never before!
  • 15-Minute Foot Massage   Running, walking, standing, and our oh-so-uncomfortable "fashionable" footwear can take a major toll on our faithful feet! Sometimes all you need is a little TLC to give those tired tootsies a much deserved rest and feel your best.  If you'd like to add a hot or cold foot soak to start we can do that too!
Swedish Relaxation Massage ♥ $80 (60 min)
This massage is a perfect introductory treatment for those who have never experienced massage before or for those who prefer lighter presser; also excellent for circulation and lymph flow, stress relief, and general wellbeing. (Always communicate with your therapist if the pressure you are receiving is too deep for your liking.)

Aromatherapy Massage (Varies Seasonally) ♥ $90 (60 min) ♥ $120 (90 min)
Our signature Aromatherapy Massages incorporate the wonderful benefits of specialty massage oils, butters or creams; therapeutic essential oils; and Hydrotherapy Hot Packs to boost the overall therapeutic effect of your session. Watch for Lazy Lavender, Chocolate Mint Twist, Pumpkin Spice, and more throughout the year. "Like" and "Follow" us on Facebook to stay up to date with current specials and other promotions such as this. For further details on current offerings, please give us a call. Treatments vary seasonally, and are available only while supplies last. Please call about current or upcoming offers, or see Facebook for our ads.

Oriental Cup Massage ♥ Stand-Alone Session $45-90 (20-60 min) ♦ Add On: Motion/Gliding (up to 3 cups) $5 ♦ Add On: Stationary/Static (multiple cups) $15
An amazing treatment for anyone to try, cupping is beneficial for chronic muscle tension, headaches, stasis, anxiety, insomnia, menstrual discomfort, scar tissue, nervousness and also detoxification. From light lymphatic treatments to deep penetrating treatments, this modality can be barely noticeable to gloriously uncomfortable, depending upon what the desired outcome will be. Cupping can be done as a stand-alone session, or it can be incorporated into almost any other treatment session. A therapist may use gliding techniques with a few cups to relieve general tension, or stationary cupping with many cups depending upon the needed intensity and desired outcome. (Special Note: Cupping can leave markings on the skin akin to a "hickey," but these are not harmful in any way and generally fade away within 3 to 11 days. This is especially true for stationary cupping, as well as for those who are largely sedentary, as with those who are confined to a computer or desk. Individuals with very prominent body hair in the target treatment area will be required to shave one to two days prior to their appointment.)

Russian Honey Massage** ♥ Stand-Alone Session $45 (20-30 min) ♦ $15 Add-On
This treatment may seem a tiny bit odd at first, yet it is such an awesome therapeutic experience. We mingle biologically active, mineral rich honey with choice massage strokes and hydrotherapy (moist hot and cold towels) to both stimulate and calm the nervous system, and help alleviate a variety of ailments including stress, tension, insomnia and more. Russian Honey massage is a wonderful aid for supporting respiratory health and boosting immunity; it is excellent for reducing and preventing pain or discomfort along the spine; it is tremendous for speeding athletic recovery; and it is phenomenal for helping to alleviate menstrual discomfort for many women; additional benefits include improved circulation, cellulite breakdown, and enhanced tone and hydration of the skin and underlying tissues. Typically, it is used as a treatment for the back, though it can an also be used on glutes, thighs, calves, shoulders, arms and even the face (see our Honey Pat Facial). Session may be upgraded to a full 30 minutes with a little extra massage work or cupping, if desired, or include in any 60 or 90 minute session for just $10 more. (Special Note: Honey massage is not appropriate for those with allergies to honey or bee stings. Treatment may not be advisable for those who have an extremely low pain tolerance, thin or compromised skin, and is not suitable for those with large amounts of body hair in the desired treatment area, so please plan to shave prior to treatment if you fit this description. This treatment is one of those "hurts good" experiences... but we love it and hope you will too!)

Grecian Prego Massage** ♥ $45 (30 min) ♥ $80 (60 min)
In modern times it is known to be one of the best locations in the world for women to be during pregnancy and motherhood, therefore Greece inspired our name for this wonderful massage treatment. Most moms-to-be happily snuggle into our wonderfully designed prego-pillow which allows them to lie comfortably in the face-down position, even to the end of the third trimester. Massage can help relieve many of the discomforts associated with pregnancy, labor and the post-partum period, such as low back strain and tenderness in the hips, while also warding off varicose veins and unsightly stretch marks. For those wanting a little extra pampering, essential oils of lavender, lemon, rose, or peppermint can be added to this session for their aroma-therapeutic benefit (lavender is the only essential oil purported to be safe to use on skin during pregnancy; oils are added by special request only, so be sure to speak up if you want them). Gentle applications of cupping or hot towels can also be added to further induce muscle relaxation and myofascial softening. **
Soothing Escape Facials**   ♥   $40-45  ♦  $15 Add-On
The Honey Pat** combines the hydrating effects of honey with the relaxation benefits of steam, as well as gentle effleurage and tapotement-style massage strokes. Truly a sweet treat! Also available in "Chocolate".  ($40)
The Mediterranean Oil** incorporates calming lavendar, choice massage oils, gentle effleurage strokes, and steam to relax and renew. An amazing treat that leaves your face feeling soft and revitalized! Accompanying scalp, neck and shoulder massage. ($35)

Soothing Hydrotherapy Hot Packs**   ♥   $30 (15 minute stand-alone treatment)  ♦  $15 Add-On (per choice of 1 large or 2 smaller packs)
This hot pack is a wonderful Add-On to any standard massage.  Moist heat has been proven to be up to 80% more effective than dry heat (electric heating pads, etc.) for easing muscle tension.  Add one or more hot packs to your session and feel the difference it will make to the end result of your session.  Select a single large pack for the back to calm muscles and relax the central nervous system, or two smaller packs for areas like tight quads, or aching feet.  No more than 3 packs per session; 90 minutes may be required when combining with other treatment sessions.  (Must be scheduled in advance of appointment, so please call ahead.)

Liver-Kidney "Detox" Treatment**   ♥   $90 (60 min)   ♥   Package of 6  $500  (Save $40)
The body's filtration organs work hard in our modern era, and there are many cleanses out there that can help speed healing of these organs. Nutritional detoxification protocols are some of the most powerful and the most thorough, and alongside these is simple hydrotherapy. Gentle, effective, and safe for almost anyone, this treatment will provide a beneficial "detoxification" (cleansing) effect for these organs (as well as surrounding tissues) via vasodilation and constriction which will draw fresh blood, nutrients and oxygen into the area being treated and push carbon dioxide and other metabolic wastes out. This treatment is excellent for those going through a nutritional protocol for weight loss, detox, liver or kidney rejuvenation, or for those who simply want to improve their overall health.* (Best when done consecutively 3-6 times weekly until the health program is through.)+

NEW! Fire & Ice Herbal Hydrotherapy Treatment**   ♥   $90 (60 min)  ♦  $15 Add-On (aka:  Fire & Ice "Mini"; 15 minutes w/ any 60 or 90 min massage)
Our new favorite, the Fire & Ice incorporates the powerful warming effects of ginger and other botanical ingredients along with hydrotherapy to elicit many a desired outcome. From general relaxation and pain relief to immune boosting and detoxification, this treatment is geared to help those suffering from general body tension, muscle cramps and spasms, upper and lower back pain, menstrual cramps, insomnia and restlessness, poor local circulation or chills, sluggish lymph, respiratory congestion (non-communicable catarrh), stress overload responses, and more!  Excellent as a stand-alone treatment (especially on a chilly day), or coupled as a full-length treatment, or a mini treatment with your regular massage.  (May not be suitable for those with sensitive skin; or those with sensitivities or allergies to kitchen herbs, spices or other botanical constituents; or those with heat intolerance. Whole-Body "Detox" & Immune Boost Treatment**   ♥   $90-180 (Minimum of 60 min, up to 2 hrs)   ♥   (Discount pricing available for packages of 6 or more)
As with our liver-kidney treatment, this hydrotherapy treatment is gentle, effective, and safe for almost anyone.  Nestled loosely in layers as a "human cocoon", this treatment is geared as a whole-body treatment, it is designed to provide "detoxification" for the whole body, systemically, via vasodilation and constriction which draws fresh blood, nutrients and oxygen into the tissues and pushes carbon dioxide and other metabolic wastes out. Additionally, this treatment works on the nervous system to produce effects such as relaxation, increased energy, mental clarity, and more depending upon the desired outcome and the amount of time spent for the treatment. Excellent for those suffering from insomnia, from intensive stress, feelings of overwhelm/anxiety, or general lethargy; for those trying to quit smoking; and for those wanting to boost their immunity as it has also been shown to increase white blood cell count too, especially when coupled with 30+ minutes of rest.+ (Special Note: This treatment requires the body to be thoroughly warmed beforehand, this can be done in session, but will increase the overall cost of the treatment; we highly recommend drinking or eating something containing spices and herbs such as cayenne, black pepper, cardamom, ginger, cinnamon, horseradish, fenugreek, turmeric or ashwagandha 30-60 minutes before your session begins, and scheduling immediately after an intensive workout, a home fever bath, hot shower, or sauna treatment. Please also hydrate yourself well the night before your treatment. Not recommended for those with claustrophobia or those with heat or cold intolerance.)
