We know that when our body is aching and we're tired of feeling blue, massage always sounds like it just might be the best cure. Yet, active illness is most often fully contraindicated. Receiving massage while ill can actually make symptoms worse. Most professional massage therapists have illness policies in place for their client's own safety and ask that they please call as soon as possible to reschedule their appointment if there are any symptoms present of cold, flu, respiratory infection, shingles or other communicable illness. It is generally advised that clients wait until 72 hours after symptoms have fully subsided to receive their next massage.
Additionally, most massage professionals work with a varied population, including immune compromised individuals (those suffering severe stress, cancer patients, elderly, infants and children, post surgery patients, etc). Apart from potentially making your illness worse, receiving massage in your therapist's place of work when there is any risk at all that you are still contagious can pass risk of infection on to others who may not be able to recover from such a bug. Here at The Great Escape, we follow the 72 hour rule to insure your safety and the safety of our other clients. We have many natural immune boosting secrets we'd happily share, including contrast therapy showers, herbal teas, lemon water, and more, just give us a call at 308.432.4558. We hope you feel better soon! Sincerely, The Great Escape Massage & Wellness Center LLC Chadron, NE 69337 www.thegreatescape4u.com
