When you have all your wellness goal "ducks" in a neat little row, yet you continue to struggle to kick those old habits out of the middle of your road to success, there may be one little, not-so-harmless habit derailing all of your most valiant efforts, you may not have guessed: caffeine. Want to kick all your bad habits for good? The answer may lie in your daily cup, mug, "energy" can, or canteen.
A secret to overall wellness success? Kick the caffeine habit. We know, it may not be a simple thing to do, but in the end, you'll feel so much better for eliminating that "bad habit glue" -- especially as you begin to gain the permanent victory over your other bad habits too! If you're a mild to moderate caffeine drinker, you may simply want to go cold-turkey, in the long run, this can be easier to do. For those with a clear, severe dependency on caffeine, it may be important to wean yourself off of this stimulant more gradually. Try subbing a few cups of your thicker brews, for something a little less stout, like plain old black tea. Once you have swapped all your daily, high-concentrate caffeinated drinks for the "lesser evil" caffeinated drinks, it's time to start introducing more water and perhaps just one nutrient rich, energy giving smoothie... until, finally, you're caffeine free. 👏 And remember, (as it is with nicotine) caffeine drinkers need to be aware of their "triggers," the things/events that make you want to drink caffeine, like: lack of restorative sleep (7-8 hrs regular, quality), not enough exercise (30 min/3x per week), untamed stress, and social meetings.
